Ruben van den Brink

Ruben proudly joined AMS-IX in 2021. With an academic degree in mathematics, he started his business career in media broadcast IT. He held several management positions at Technicolor and Ericsson, focussing on network and datacenter services. In 2016, Ruben decided to join the SURFnet executive management team, leading the network department. At SURFnet, the Dutch national research and education network, he was responsible for the development and automated deployment of SURFnet8, as well the innovation programme for network services.

Olena Lutsenko

Olena Lutsenko is the Managing Director of RETN Ukraine and Head of the Black Sea region, responsible for the commercial activity, business and network development in the whole region. After joining RETN in 2010 as a Sales Manager, her combined sales and technical skills allowed her to quickly work her way up to Commercial Director and on to Managing Director of RETN Ukraine. In 2021 she took on additional responsibility as Head of Black Sea region for RETN. Additionally, she is a member of the Association of Operators of the Telecommunication Chamber of Ukraine. Olena and other members of the Association are working on telecom legislation, including the new law about electronic communications in Ukraine.

Steven Bakker

Steven has over 25 years of experience in various parts of the Internet industry such as Network and Systems Operations, Network Architecture, Software Development, and Technical Pre-Sales. He has been at AMS-IX for over 15 years, and previously worked at AT&T, DANTE (now Géant) and SARA (now Interxion). Jelena is working on supporting technical communities in SEE region, including those around IXPs and NOGs. As a part of her work, she is active as a Peering Coordinator for RIS – a routing data collection project. Prior to joining the NCC, Jelena worked as an Outreach Coordinator for Packet Clearing House. At PCH, she mainly focused on providing support to IXPs and expanding PCH’s global infrastructure.

Daniele has been around networking since 2000. He worked at RIPE NCC, then joined Namex in 2002 when it was just a single switch. After getting his MBA and making other experiences, he’s now back at Namex as a consulting project manager to oversee the development of ANIX, the Albanian Neutral IX.

Bijal Sanghani

Bijal’s experience includes DNS management for DEMON Internet, Provisioning Engineer at Level 3, Senior Operations Engineer at FLAG Telecom and Reliance Globalcom where she was involved from the beginning to build the FLAG IP network. In 2011 Bijal moved from an operational role to the top management role at Euro-IX. Euro-IX is a non-profit membership association for Internet Exchange Points (IXPs). In her role she brings the members together to share ideas and experiences on technical, commercial and regulatory matters, and works on other IXP related projects such as the IXP{DB} (IXP Database) and support programs to help IXPs in need. Bijal has grown the membership by over 90% since she started in 2011. 

Bijal has been involved with the Peering and Interconnect Community since 2003, she’s been a RIPE NCC Services Working Group Co-chair since 2005 and served on the UKNOF Program Committee from 2006 until 2014. Bijal was elected on to the PeeringDB Board in 2017 where she currently serves as a Director.

He held (and sometimes continue to hold) executive tasks in various European trade organizations dealing with telecoms and Internet, such as Euroispa (the European ISP Association), MVNO Europe (the European Association of MVNO), ECTA (the European Competitive Telecommunications Association) and the European Internet Forum (the main European foundation for Internet and telecoms). He’s currently member of the Advisory Board of Iliad Italia, while he also served as General Counsel for Tiscali S.p.A.. At beginning of his career, he was a partner attorney at Ughi e Nunziante, a leading Italian law firm based in Rome and Milan, where he dealt mainly with European, competition and ICT law cases. He also practised in Bologna at the law firm Studio Legale Bernini as well as at the European Court ofJustice in Luxembourg.

Wilfried works at Digital Realty and is Director Strategy & Development, Network Service Providers, responsible for Strategic Initiatives that seed future business, such as Edge Computing, Internet Peering, and Subsea Cables. Furthermore, business development with selected Strategic Accounts in the Connectivity segment, and Market Development, to strengthen the connectivity foundation across key EMEA markets. Prior to this he was Managing Director, at Leaseweb CDN B.V. Based in Amsterdam, where he was responsible for the Content Services, including the Multi CDN and security solutions. And also he spend 7 years at CenturyLink (Level 3) as Director Content Solutions, where he was responsible for selling services such as Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), Website Acceleration, Media Delivery, in the EMEA region, and he also acted as a product specialist for these services.

Before that, he held several sales and channel development management roles at companies including Deutsche Telekom, Telia International Carrier and Limelight Networks, and over the years he gained market and product experience on CDNs and Internet infrastructure. He was also chairman of the Amsterdam Internet Exchange.

He is a regular speaker and panelist on Broadcast Technology, CDN’s, OTT, Edge Computing, and Connectivity services including Peering and subsea cable systems.

Kjetil Otter Olsen

Norwegian Internet eXchange

Kjetil has since the 1990s been running the Norwegian Internet eXchange,  and he has also worked with networking for the university of Oslo and the rest of the academic sector in Norway.  He is an active participant in Euro-IX and forums for internet operators. Since 1999 he has also assisted the Norwegian Parliament in the oversight of secret services, and is today the technical director for the team that supports this oversight.

Raul started his journey in the telecom industry over 20 years ago at a small ISP in his hometown. Since then, he has been working in different segments related to the telco industry, from large ISPs and enterprises to international banking. Currently he is working in Nokia as a Senior Sales Engineer and since May 2018 has helped Webscale and IXP customers in the EMEA region to extend their network capacity.

Raul Gutierrez

Raul started his journey in the telecom industry over 20 years ago at a small ISP in his hometown. Since then, he has been working in different segments related to the telco industry, from large ISPs and enterprises to international banking. A Physic graduate, he has been for some years a Magnetic Monopole hunter for Caltech University in an Italian underground laboratory. In 1996 he moved into Internet Services joining Caspur, a university consortium based in Rome where the Rome IXP was born in 1995. Head of Network and Infrastructure at Caspur, after the merger with Cineca he became the Head of the Hosting BU. He’s one of the authors of OpenWisp, an open-source system that has contributed to the development of public Wifi Services inside the Italian local public administration.He has been recognized by the European Union as an Expert in the field of Internet and Telecommunications.
